Bahay Tuluyan is a non government organization that provides a variety of programs and services aimed at preventing and responding to abuse and exploitation of children in the Philippines. The organization works in the cities of Manila, Laguna and Quezon, delivering social services and programs on the street and in communities. Programming includes basic services for children such as food, medical assistance and emergency shelter.
Since 2016, Madonna has supported Bahay Tuluyan’s “Sinag Center” in Manila. “Sinag” means “ray of light” and the center provides emergency services and shelter to children in need. Children are accommodated on an emergency or short term basis, for a maximum stay of 6 months. They receive case management, psycho-social support, nutrition and medical support. They also are able to participate in activities such as dancing, singing, sports, and gardening. The Ray of Light Foundation’s funding supports the costs of staffing house parents and social workers, food, education, clothing, medical needs, water and electricity.
